Time for Pablo Schreiber to suit up as Master Chief for Showtime’s Halo TV series

He’s here to finish the fight…or start the fight. Either way, he’s here to fight.

It has taken five years to get to this point from it’s initial announcement, but Master Chief has landed! The Showtime Halo series has seen some turbulence with director Rupert Wyatt leaving and Otto Bathurst replacing him along with the aforementioned delay, but with the casting of Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, it feels like the reality of it all happening is finally sinking in. After all this time, hopes are high that he brings Master Chief to life in a satisfactory way.

Pablo Schreiber has been picking up steam in recent years with roles in Orange is the New Black, American Gods, and First Man. Now he’s putting on that Spartan armor and heading into the galaxy to fight the Covenant. He’s been described by Showtime as “Earth’s most advanced warrior in the 26th century and the only hope of salvation for a civilization pushed to the brink of destruction by the Covenant, an unstoppable alliance of alien worlds committed to the destruction of humanity.” This is nothing we don’t already know about the chief. He’s a badass. He has also saved the galaxy time and time again. Well, 5 times at least. It’s his specialty.

Schreiber is also joined by Yerin Ha who is playing a new character, “Quan Ah, a shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both.” It should be fun to watch a teenager play off of Chief’s gruff demeanor. Master Chief is a man of few words, so Ha may end up carrying the conversations.

Master Chief is a video game icon and it will be quite the task to live up to the expectations some fans will have in this newest live-action iteration of the character.

Showtime’s Halo series is set to begin production this fall.
