Timecop reboot coming, Van Damme missing

Universal Pictures has announced that it plans to reboot Timecop or maybe remake it or maybe just make another adaptation of the comic it was based on. Whatever the hell they’re doing Jean-Claude Van Damme will not be involved instantly making this version the weaker one. One assumes that the plot will once again follow a cop who travels through time to stop time traveling criminals, but Universal says they will be re-imagining the idea of Timecop so who knows. Maybe it’ll be a cop who polices watch stores.

As one of the first R-rated films I ever saw in a theater, Timecop holds a special place in my heart. That doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward to a remake. The film should have been a franchise, but it’s television spin-off and straight to DVD sequel both sucked so it didn’t last. Now it has a second chance, and as long as that second chance has a man doing splits in his underwear onto the kitchen counter then I’m all for it.
