Tom Hardy to star in Splinter Cell movie

Lots of big developments today in the film adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. According to Variety, Tom Hardy has signed on to star as Sam Fisher. (Seen above, but without them three green eyes so you can enjoy Hardy’s handsome punim.) It was also announced today that Eric Singer will write the adaptation’s screenplay. Singer’s previous screenwriting credit is the 2009 Tom Tykwer film The International, which starred Clive Owen.

There’s still no studio attached to Splinter Cell, though Ubisoft has been in talks with both Warner Bros. and Paramount. Something similar happened with Ubisoft’s film adaptation of Assassin’s Creed. Once Michael Fassbender (and his penis) got attached to Assassin’s Creed, the project was finally picked up by New Regency.
