The world just lost a great director. Tony Scott, director of classics such as True Romance, Top Gun, and Man on Fire, committed suicide Sunday afternoon in San Pedro, CA.
As someone who dreamed of making movies during high school, Scott’s techniques buried a deep impression on me. I remember writing a short script about a hitman, and in my mind, it was a blend of Tony Scott and Michael Mann. I still have some sequences in my head that are in the style of Scott’s vision in Domino and Man on Fire.
It’s truly a shame that Tony couldn’t find peace in life. But suicide doesn’t have to be your course of action. Talk to someone. A friend, family member, hell, even a hotline can help.[via Contra Costa Times]
