Toy ads confirm Zod as villain for Man of Steel

Superman Flight -

One of the lesser kept secrets in movies is that Michael Shannon will be playing Zod in the upcoming Man of Steel. It’s been pretty obvious and Zack Snyder’s terrible attempt to be coy at SDCC this year when asked directly pretty much gave it away. But now it’s almost completely confirmed as two rough cut ads for new Superman toys (one above, one below) have hit the web and one reveals Zod and his space machine thing.

Aside from all but confirming that Zod is in the film the ads probably also give away some plot points like the fact that there is a space machine thing or that the Fortress of Solitude may be in the film. Whatever the ads give away I’m surprised by the fact that toy technology hasn’t advanced at all in the past 50 years. Stretch Armstrong toys? Really? That’s still something they’re marketing as new? And how much do you want to bet that those launchers don’t launch all that well? Seriously toy companies, get your act together.
