Trailer #2: Lincoln Lawyer

Because of the interesting background of this book-to-film project, I’m still eager to see how Lincoln Lawyer is going to inflate and explode, if at all. I still have a hunch that it’s going to be 2011’s first sleeper hit where word of mouth helps it more than marketing.

After repeating the money counting scene that it was so proud of in the first trailer, we finally get to see more of the impressive supporting cast that it boasts. It’s starting to feel like the well edited first trailer wasn’t a deception, and that this may actually end up being a pretty good movie despite having a director and writer who are both practically novices.

Will Ryan Phillippe prove to everyone that he’s been in movies other than Crash that are worth watching? Will Michael Connelly have his other books’ rights bought up and assembly lined straight to theaters? We’ll have to wait until March 11th of next year to find out, but I’m hopeful that Lincoln Lawyer will be a solid film that doesn’t try to get awards but instead just tries to thoroughly please theater audiences.
