The 84th Academy Awards are coming on February 26, and this recently released trailer for the show has a little fun with Billy Crystal’s return as host. It features Crystal, Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, Winnie Jones, and Robin Williams.
The Academy will announce its nominations on January 24. We’ve given the Best Original Song and Best Visual Effects hopefuls a look in the last few weeks, and we also mentioned Susan Orlean’s claim that the Academy should give Rin Tin Tin a posthumous Oscar.
I’m still a little bit sore that Crystal is hosting despite the groundswell of support for the Muppets. Crystal isn’t bad, of course, but it sort of feels like we’re going to the safety school, marrying a doctor, and working a comfortable yet unengaging middle-management job.
