I’ve been interested in Another Earth since it made some waves at Sundance. The idea is that, suddenly, another version of Earth appears in the sky, as an exact duplicate of our own. We enter the world through a woman (Brit Marling) who accidentally killed a man’s wife and child in a drunk driving accident, and she finds herself living with the man months after the fact, as he has no idea what she’s done.
I love this notion of combining a high concept sci-fi idea with a very human, emotional story. It always makes for good science fiction.
