A lot of buddy comedies are very male-driven. The most recent comedy ensemble I actually enjoyed, The Hangover, is a good example of this. However, with the meteoric rise of female comedians like Tina Fey and… Tina Fey, a raunchy, female-driven buddy comedy was destined to happen.

Paul Feig, Freaks and Geeks creator and director of many great episodes of The Office, Arrested Development, and other shows, is heeding the call in his directorial film follow-up to such critically-acclaimed comedies like Unaccompanied Minors and Heavyweights. Bridesmaids, which stars a mix of funny and unfunny actresses, such as Kristen Wiig, Ellie Kemper, and Maya Rudolph, follows Wiig’s character, Annie, as she tries to organize the pre-wedding festivities as the Maid of Honor.

I’m not gonna lie, the film seems very cliche and by the numbers, but maybe there’ll be scenes worthy enough to justify the R-rating it’s been given. I also noticed that Wiig has a more than passing resemblance to Jennifer Aniston, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. What do you guys think (about the trailer, not the resemblance)?
