Continuing popular culture’s seemingly never satisfied fascination with vampires – Neil Jordan, the creator of Interview with a Vampire, brings us the heady, red shifted Byzantium. The story follows a mother and daughter pair of vampires whose existence is threatened when they move to a new town and the daughter falls in love with a mortal boy who suffers from leukemia. Romance and family drama ensues.
The trailer does make the movie seem pretty action packed, it’s full of human eating and rivers of blood and other vampirey imagery. Personally, I’m kind of over the whole vampire thing, but we’ll be able to find out tomorrow if Byzantium is worth seeing when Flixist’s Tribecca Film Festival review of the movie debuts! Byzantium will open to wider theaters starting June 28th.[via Collider]
