Trailer: Chernobyl Diaries

0

When I was around age 9 or 10 there was a Weekly World News cover story about giant radioactive frogs from Chernobyl that would eventually destroy the world. (Like the Frog Squash attack in Chrono Trigger.) I was terrified because I was young and didn’t realize at the time that the Weekly World News was kooky and made-up.

Chernobyl Diaries doesn’t seem to involve radioactive Ukrainian frogs. Instead, some tourists checking out the world’s worst nuclear disaster are terrorized by the unfortunate, irradiated denizens of the abandoned town of Prypiat. The film was written by Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli, and comes out May 25th, the same day that Ukrainian statesman Symon Petliura was assassinated by anarchist Sholom Schwartzbard. Coincidence? Well… yeah, probably.

I hope Chernobyl Diaries ends with the last surviving tourist getting crushed by a giant colorful frog. Though to be fair, I hope every movie ends that way.
