Curse of Chucky is the direct to home video fifthquel of Child’s Play, yet it already looks better than the last two entries. In a sort of reboot of the franchise, the Chucky doll is once again innocent looking and with a new family. Until of course, it starts murdering folks. The trailer is short, but it looks interesting enough for a rental. There’s a nice return to practical effects (and the doll’s puppet work is quite menacing), and there’s been a lack of slasher films that don’t reek lately. Curse of Chucky releases onto home video this October, so we’ll have time to mull it over until then.
