Trailer: Djinn

0

I love seeing fairy tales and urban legends in movies that are closer to their original dark origins. Djinn follows a couple returning to their lavish apartment after a vacation in the U.S. and meeting the evil Genie that lives in it. The trailer is only half in English and there aren’t any subtitles past the opening, so there are some plot points missing, but it seems like the Djinn has something to do with the spirits of dead children.

Djinn is directed by Tobe Hooper, the man who brought us the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist, so there’s a good chance it won’t disappoint. There were some rumors that the Abu Dhabi royal family demanded the cessation of the film’s production on the grounds that it was “politically subversive,” but considering that Djinn will be hitting theaters later this year, those seem unfounded.
