Drive will be the Yojimbo of all wheelman movies. At least, that’s what I’m hoping after an overwhelmingly positive response at the Cannes film festival. A high octane thriller probably gets an edge after the audience has spent an entire week viewing one arthouse film after another, but Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, and Christina Hendricks are all at the top of their game with hit TV shows and motion pictures. The only element left remaining is an underused industry veteran. Who better than Albert Brooks?
This Red Band trailer is the first of any kind to be shown for Drive, and it’s anything but gunshy. Hopefully this finally silences all the cries for a return to action film maturity and is just as much fun for those of us who feel it never left.[Via IGN]
