Trailer for Crumbs by Miguel Llansó

There’s no shortage of post-apocalyptic stories in the pop-culture landscape these days, but if this enigmatic trailer for Miguel Llansó’s Crumbs is any indication, there are still ways to put a new spin on the old tale.

Billed as a “post-apocalyptic love story set in Ethiopia,” Crumbs follows the journey of Gagano, described as a “diminutive superhero” who “has had enough of collecting the valuable crumbs of decayed civilisation,” according to the film’s description on the International Film Festival Rotterdam website. The film debuted during IFFR 2015, which was held Jan. 21 – Feb. 1. Gagano sets out to conquer his fears when a long-dormant spaceship hovering in the sky begins showing signs of activity, but he must also take on “a witch, Santa Claus and second-generation Nazis” to complete his trek, the description reads.

Crumbs is the first feature-length film from Miguel Llansó, who has previously directed short films like The Second Best and First Peasant on Mars
