Trailer for the Eli Roth-produced Clown is not funny

0

Many people have a healthy fear of clowns, which is probably why Eli Roth, who I think we all know likes to scare people, put together a fake trailer for a movie called Clown, which was about a man who puts on a clown costume that he can’t take off. Evidently, he actually wanted to make it into a real movie and so now that he’s got the clout he has. The real trailer for the real movie is above and it’s creepy as all hell.

It’s actually pretty interesting to watch the similarities between the new trailer (above) and the old one (below). More importantly the clown stuff doesn’t look quite as goofy this time around and there actually seems to be a plot. I actually like the “that’s not funny” line in the original better, but everything else about the real one seems improved otherwise.

Jon Watts will be directing as his first feature film so we’ll have to see if he’s able to take the concept from something more than a cool trailer. No release date yet, but we’ll probably see this popping up in festivals later this year.
