Allow me to start this post off with general movie information. Madagascar 3 continues the travels of Alex (Ben Stiller), Gloria (Jada Pinkett-Smith), Marty (Chris Rock), and Melman (David Schwimmer) as they attempt to find their way back home to New York. Unfortunately, they get lost in Europe where they join a travelling circus. Typical Madagascar/children’s film fodder.
HOWEVER, in a very interesting tidbit of information, Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale) wrote the script for Madagascar 3. Considering his relationship with Ben Stiller in last year’s Greenberg, it’s not that much of a stretch, let alone his involvement with Wes Anderson in The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Still, this is the man who wrote and directed one of my favorite films of recent times, The Squid and the Whale.
Does knowing Baumbach wrote the screenplay elevate your interest in the film? Will Madagascar 3 be America’s most wanted when it hits theaters June 8, 2012? Will you promise to answer my questions when the summer comes around?
