Parker Posey (Superman Returns) stars in Price Check as a marketing boss brought in to help liven up a grocery store pricing and marketing firm. To begin, she gives Pete Cozy (Ugly Betty‘s Eric Mabius) a substantial raise. However, the raise comes with rising stakes (hurr hurr hurr) as the more time they spend with each other, the more their relationship transitions from a professional one to a sexual one. As the old saying goes, don’t poop where you eat.
It seems like Price Check could be a decent buddy comedy with Posey’s character serving as the opposite to Mabius’, but with a sexual twist that most buddy comedies don’t explore. Given its independent status, I hope that the film pushes some boundaries that typical comedies don’t. We’ll see when the film is released.
