Trailer: Red Hook Summer

The next in Spike Lee’s filmography, Red Hook Summer, has received its first official trailer. Having been sent to Brooklyn to spend the summer with his preacher grandfather, Flik (yes, that’s really his name) has a hard time adapting to inner-city life, especially when compared to his humble roots in middle-class Atlanta. However, after meeting a girl his age, Flik begins to realize just how big the world really is.

Our fallen comrade Allistair Pinsof reviewed Red Hook Summer at Sundance and didn’t think too highly of it. Based off of this new trailer, I have to admit that it doesn’t necessarily pique my interest, either. However, all judgment will be withheld until it’s released in New York theaters (with wider releases following) sometime this August.
