Color me surprised. Katsuhiro Otomo’s Short Peace is something I only learned about this morning, and after watching the brief trailer I’m more than eager to learn more. For those of you who might not be aware, Otomo is the creator of the seminal sci-fi classic Akira, so his street cred is serious.
Short Peace is is going to be a quadrology of shorter films directed by Otomo himself, along with Morita Shuhei, Hiroaki Ando, and Hajime Katoki. Those names probably mean a bit more to you if you frequent our sister site Japanator. The film debuts in the Land of the Rising Sun on July 20th, so we’ll probably get a chance to see it sometime in the years after that. Probably.
