Trailer: Shut Up and Play the Hits

0

Off the top of my head, there are two shows in my life I regret missing: a Nirvana New Year’s Eve show back in 1993 (was just shy of being a teen, but still could have gone) and the farewell concert by LCD Soundsystem last year. What the two bands have in common is that I never got to see either live. I’m hoping for an LCD Soundsystem reunion in about 10 years, like with Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Pavement, and The Afghan Whigs.

Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, Shut Up and Play the Hits follows frontman James Murphy for roughly 48 hours, covering the day of the final LCD Soundsystem show and the day after. It looks like it’s part documentary, part concert film, and hopefully all awesome. It’s got a sad panda in it. The film makes its premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
