Trailer: Slasher movie Happy Death Day could also be titled Groundhog Die

Happy Death Day looks like my cheesy kind of jam. Take the hook of Groundhog Day, apply it to a slasher movie, and--bing--you have my attention for 90 minutes. (But not a minute more.) Yes, Happy Death Day is like Groundhog Day, but a slasher film. Sort of like how Edge of Tomorrow is like Groundhog Day but a sci-fi war movie.

Deja vu. I swear I’ve used this Groundhog Die joke before.

Check out the trailer for Happy Death Day below.

Happy Death Day - Official Trailer - In Theaters Friday The 13th October (HD)

This better not be the start of the Groundhog Day Cinematic Universe.

Here’s an official synopsis for Groundhog Di— I mean Happy Death Day:

Blumhouse (Split, Get Out, Whiplash) produces an original and inventive rewinding thriller in HAPPY DEATH DAY, in which a college student (Jessica Rothe, La La Land) relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity.

HAPPY DEATH DAY is directed by Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones) and written by Scott Lobdell and Landon.

Groundhog Death Day comes out October 13th. Bing! What other genre should get the Groundhog Day treatment? Let us know in the comments.
