Trailer: Take Me Home Tonight

0

The 80s were an interesting time of converging music and clothing styles. Take, for instance, the song “Take Me Home Tonight” by Eddie Money, also the title of a new 80s throwback movie starring Topher Grace. The song was a huge hit in 1986, and part of it’s novelty was that it featured Ronnie Spector (who used to be married to this guy) singing excerpts of The Ronette’s 1963 classic, “Be My Baby,” a song also made popular that year for its use on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Now, in the tradition of progressivism, this 80s hit song with the 60s hit sample, is getting the millennial treatment.

It’s clear that Hollywood can’t leave well enough alone — because The Wedding Singer, 200 Cigarettes, Hot-tub Time Machine, and co. could never satisfy the beast — and so they will try to continue to profit off our nostalgia and the rare time that was the 80s. What, if anything, sets this movie apart? Anna Faris, and the fact that it’s being written by the guys behind Topher’s star making series, That 70s Show. Let’s hope they have better luck with this take on the 80s than the massive flop, That 80s Show
