Wong Kar-Wai’s The Grandmaster has been stuck in production and post-production h-e-double-hockey-sticks for about three years now. While we can hardly say at this point whether or not the movie will be worth the wait, we can at least be enticed by this new *English* trailer. Despite the fact that the trailer isn’t really giving us any noteworthy new footage, it’s at least nice to see that the Weinsteins haven’t forgotten about the English-speaking audience that has been anticipating The Grandmaster for several years now.
The Grandmaster will feature the storied life of Yip Man, (a.k.a Ip Man) a fabled martial artist whose students included Bruce Lee, his activities during the Second Sino-Japanese War, and reflections on the intersections of martial arts and life, though you wouldn’t expect that from the action-laden trailers we’ve gotten thus far. The Grandmaster is set to finally debut in the US on August 23rd, 2013.[via First Showing]
