This trailer for the upcoming movie Trishna marks Freida Pinto’s definitive move into Leading Lady status. Trishna is an adaption of the book Tess of the d’Urbervilles set against modern day India as a backdrop. The titular character, played by Pinto, is the daughter of a motorized rickshaw owner who meets a young, wealthy and handsome boy.
Though simply judging by the trailer, I’d say this movie is going to be 20% dancing, and 30% shots of Freida Pinto’s face, and 50% shots of Freida Pinto’s face while she’s dancing. And I’m totally fine with that.
