We Have a Pope, directed by Nanni Moretti, tells the tale of a Vatican in crisis – they can’t decide who should be the next Pope! Then when someone is finally chosen, (under dubious circumstances, perhaps?) he hates it. He has so much trouble dealing with his new position in life that the Cardinals end up trying psychoanalysis.
The trailer looks pretty good to me, Michel Piccoli looks like he does a great job as an adorable old man trying to gain a grip on his new life, and even – gasp! – venturing outside of the Vatican under cover! We Have a Pope looks like a cute movie that despite dealing with some heavy subjects, won’t take itself too seriously.
