Tribeca Review: Dean

0

It was my first year covering the Tribeca Film Festival and I had a good time. I’ve seen some good films, I’ve seen bad ones, but through the week I had yet to see something “great.” Although I had a good time, none of the films I saw were ones I’d be itching to tell folks about afterwards. It’s the nature of festivals. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but hopefully the films are interesting enough to talk about.

But Dean is something else entirely. It was the last film I caught at Tribeca and it perfectly encapsulated my feelings toward the festival as a whole. Dean is a great film, but not perfect. Regardless, it’s still an effective story of love, loss, and desperation.

[This film is playing as part of the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, running from April 13-24 in New York City. For tickets and more information, click here.]
