Poltergeist III (1988) - Movie Trailer

Hey guys, it’s October! You know what that means: Halloween is right around the corner! As such, we will be bringing you some of our favorite horror film suggestions, in the hopes that they will lead to some sleepless nights. This is…Trick or Treat!

With all the modern horror I’ve been posting this month, I’ve decided to take a trip back to my childhood today, with Poltergeist III. I’ve been a horror movie junkie as long as I can remember. It’s given me some pretty thick skin, but there was a time when my skin wasn’t so thick, on several levels (I’m saying I’m fat now). Back then, I remember watching Poltergeist III and it scaring the bejeezus out of me. I’ve seen it since, and there are key scenes that still to this day get under my skin.

Carol Anne, star of the Poltergeist series, has been sent to live with her aunt and uncle in a fancy high rise in the big city so she can attend a school for troubled girls. Kane, the creepy cult leader ghost guy from the first two films finds Carol Anne and reeks havoc on her, her extended family, and the high rise itself, in that classic creepy cult leader ghost guy way. Lots of creepy mirror effects abound as Carol Anne, series staple Tangina, and Carol Anne’s family struggle to end Kane’s reign of terror once and for it.

Okay, so it’s not the greatest horror movie I’ll suggest this month, and it’s not even the best in the series. Call it nostalgia, but I love Poltergeist III. It’s pretty good urban horror, and a nice change of pace from the rest of this month’s offerings.

This also begs the question: what are your favorite classic horror movies?
