Tron-a-be trailer for Black Heaven

0

“Tron-a-be”, get it? Like “wanna be”? You can thank Siobhan for the pun-tastic headline.

A US trailer was released for L’Autre Monde (or Black Heaven for the non-french), and it seems to be trying to give Tron a run for its money. Distributed under IFC’s Midnight label, it’s a film about an online video game that is starting to kill its players in real life. So basically, PS1 era polygons, jumping off buildings and half naked femme fatales. Got it.

These “virtual world crossing over with the real world” films are almost never done right, and often times they insult my intelligence as a gamer. Though the trailer tells us that it’s widely praised and has been receiving a bit of a buzz on the festival circuit, I still can’t help but be cautious. Time and time again I walk into these movies hoping they do the immersion of video games justice, and time and time again I walk out of movies like Stay Alive and Gamer disgusted and in need of a shower. But alas, I am a sucker, and I will be watching this when it comes out in January.

In other news, Virtuosityis still very awesome….
