TV spot for Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty

The early buzz has been extremely positive for Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, her docudrama about the decade-long hunt for Osama bin Laden. Many of the early reviews have praised the film for its overall leanness and intensity. It may even be her best film yet and garner just as many accolades as 2009’s The Hurt Locker. (As a side note, I always thought her vampire film Near Dark was pretty underrated.)

This first TV spot is solid, though it can’t possibly impart the full impact of a 159-minute thriller. I’m really looking forward to seeing this myself and then comparing the events in the movie to the way history played out.

Zero Dark Thirty opens in limited theaters on December 19th. The film expands to wide release in January.
