Uncharted 3 developers trounce Uncharted movie rumors

Mark Wahlberg fans may be out of luck today. Despite previous evidence from Wahlberg himself, David O. Russell’s Uncharted adaptation may not be what we’ve been told to expect. In an interview with Uncharted 3 game director Justin Richmond, Joystiq asked about all of the recent movie rumors, and Richmond had this to say. “First of all, all that stuff was denied by David O. Russell…He actually called us up and was like, ‘I don’t know what these guys are talking about.’”

I take this one of two ways. Number one: somehow everything that David O. Russell and Marky Mark already said to reasonably reputable news journals has just been false, early information, like saying an actor is “attached” to a project in the sense that they receive the script at some point in the last decade. Number two: maaaaaybe Naughty Dog might not appreciate Russell going so far from the source material as he’s supposed to be wanting to, so Russell’s just playing a bit of interference. It’s really too soon to say that either are false. We’ll just have to keep our eyes out for the next couple of days and see how it all plays out.
