Uncharted movie lands a director in Seth Gordon

So you’re a film studio looking to get one of the biggest action gaming franchises around into theaters and you need a director. You’ve been through a few so you’re getting a little desperate. Who to settle on? How about the guy who has directed nothing but comedies? Yea, that sounds good.

Deadline is reporting that Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief) is in final negotiations to direct the upcoming Uncharted film. This may make a little more sense if you consider that Gordon directed the awesome King of Kong, which is about videogames so by studio logic that means he’d be perfect for directing a videogame adaptation.

I don’t want to come down too hard on the guy. He could be an awesome director and make a great Uncharted, but if we want actual, quality videogame adaptations to start being a regular thing films like Uncharted need to be fantastic and it’s worrisome that Gordon might not be the guy for the job. Then again, the movie has had so many actors and directors attached to it Gordon might be gone the next time we hear about it.
