Universal working on live-action Voltron film

Studios have wanted a live-action Voltron reboot for some time. Before being bought by Universal, Dreamworks Animation had been chugging away at a script for years. But now after their mild success from the Netflix show, Voltron: Legendary Defender, and the recent glut of nostalgia, Universal sees it fit to further work on it.

According to Deadline, Universal has tapped David Hayter (X-Men, Metal Gear series) to work on the script but that’s pretty much where it’s going to stay for a while. Waiting to see how the next Transformers film, Power Rangers, and Pacific Rim: Maelstrom fare in theaters, Universal is hesitant to throw the money behind yet another giant robot movie.

Well, let’s hope this works out for everyone. I’ve got a lot of nerd staked in all of these.
