Gravity (2013) - Trailer #2 (Detached) - Alfonso Cuaron, Sandra Bullock, George Clooney

UPDATE: Going along with the wonderful “Detached” trailer released, another clip “drifts” below the jump. It’s the aftermath of the trailers and it’s horrifyingly beautiful. Hortiful. Horribeau. Beautiho.

ANOTHER UPDATE: A third clip from Gravity titled “I’ve got you” was released yesterday. It has been included after the cut.

A new trailer for Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity was released last night, and it’s something pretty special. Instead of a traditional montage, this Gravity trailer is an actual 90-second clip from the film that shows Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in loads of trouble. On top of that, this 90-second clip simulates a single, uninterrupted shot without any cuts.

Cuaron used long takes to great effect in Children of Men, and it’s carrying over with Gravity. Admittedly, the effects do look CG-y here (the eye can simply tell), but there’s enough bravura in these 90 seconds that I can look past it and admire what Cuaron is trying to accomplish.

Gravity will hit theaters on October 4th. In the gallery is a poster for the film.
