By If you’re of a certain age than National Lampoon’s Vacation is pretty much sacred comedy territory. A movie that you fondly remember watching repeatedly on VHS or whatever random station it popped up on, followed, of course, by Christmas Vacation. No one was clamoring for a reboot… but here it is.
In the above trailer things get meta for a bit and you’ve got some hope they’ll be self-aware enough to pull this off, but then the sex jokes kick in and it feels like they’re just trying to one up themselves. The conclusion of the trailer would have been a great joke in the theater if it wasn’t just ruined by watching the trailer and having a Hemsworth walk around in his underwear to show off his largess is just plain low level. This is one of those trailers where I’m hoping the didn’t show all the funny parts because that means there might actually be some.
Vacation will open July 29, 2015.
