I come from a theatrical background, and the first musical production I was in was an abridged version of Les Miserables, so that show has a big place in my heart. That is why I’m ecstatic over this news. I think the biggest problem with movie musicals nowadays is the fact that very few of them do live vocals recordings, which I think takes something important out of the performances.
I think Tom Hooper is a competent enough director, and it seems like he is going in the right direction with his adaptation of the material. This decision combined with the choice to not use 3D makes me very excited to see how everything turns out.[Via Collider]
