Wachowskis and Warner Brothers’ next project is Hood

Looks like Russel Crowe might have something else to Tweet about today. The unnamed project that the Wachowski Brothers — err, Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski, formerly Larry Wachowski — have been working on is Hood. It makes sense that they’d keep it tight lipped until after this year’s Robin Hood movie has passed and mostly been forgotten.

Described as a modern version of the popular Robin Hood mythical tale, it’s hard to guess exactly how urban the Wachowskis plan to get with it. Most don’t remember (or never saw) Leonardo DiCaprio’s guns ablazin’ version of Romeo + Juliet, but I think it worked out well as a modern retelling, so I hope that’s the vein the V for Vendetta writers aim for.

Don’t let the $30 million loss in Speed Racer scare you, the Wachowskis are already in talks with lead actors for this new project and Will Smith is rumored to be one of them. Looks like Russel Crowe might have something else to Tweet about today. The unnamed project that the Wachowski Brothers — err, Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski, formerly Larry Wachowski — have been working on is Hood. It makes sense that they'd keep it tight lipped until after this year's Robin Hood movie has passed and mostly been forgotten.

Described as a modern version of the popular Robin Hood mythical tale, it's hard to guess exactly how urban the Wachowskis plan to get with it. Most don't remember (or never saw) Leonardo DiCaprio's guns ablazin' version of Romeo + Juliet, but I think it worked out well as a modern retelling, so I hope that's the vein the V for Vendetta writers aim for.

Don't let the $30 million loss in Speed Racer scare you, the Wachowskis are already in talks with lead actors for this new project and Will Smith is rumored to be one of them. As for Warner Brothers, they're not fazed by the Speed Racer flop either, and they are still signed on for the Wachowskis' 2012 project, Cobalt Neural 9. CN-9 is about a homosexual soldier falling in love with an Iraqi and plotting to assassinate George. W. Bush, and is told from the perspective of archaeologists piecing together their story in the future. Flixist will keep you posted on both projects as new details emerge.
