Warner Bros. putting together animated Scooby-Doo movie

Scooby-Doo has never really died. Sure, the stoned dog and his gang of human mystery solvers fades into the background (or straight to video) every once in a while, but that dog can make a buck and kids love him. His next big return (after his live action outings grossed $540 million last decade) will be in a fully animated feature.

The film is being written by Matt Lieberman at the moment, who has a few kids’s movies under his belt, but little else is known about it. My hope is that they don’t go CGI, but instead hearken back to the original show and have traditional animation. That would separate it enough from the live action ones where Scooby was CGI anyway. In a world where 2D animation is becoming more and more scarce for the big studios this is probably a long shot, but it would be awesome.
