Waterworld director working on family friendly Jesus film

Joining the likes of current Biblical adaptations like Ridley Scott’s Exodus and Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, is The Resurrection, a family friendly mystery directed by Kevin Reynolds (the same guy who directed Waterworld, or more recently, the Hatfields & McCoys miniseries).

The Resurrection is a film set after the death of Jesus Christ and has a tone akin to Gladiator. Except that it’s supposed to be more family friendly. The film follows an “agnostic” man assigned by Pontius Pilate to look into rumors of Christ’s resurrection. Then as he gets into what I assume are hilarious biblical shenanigans, he learns the true meaning of Easter. Oh yeah, the film is looking toward an Easter 2015 release. So everyone looking forward to a happy go lucky Jesus film that may or may not feature Gladiator Jesus?
