Wes Craven is willing to work on Scream 5 and 6

With the Scream 4 trailer being so well received, it shouldn’t surprise many people that a whole new trilogy may be on the way. However, it seems like it may not be as simple as Wes Craven fighting to stay relevant after My Soul to Take met almost no one’s low expectations. He actually seems pretty laid back about it:

“When I initially met with Kevin, he sketched out what the next two would be, and I found it really fascinating … A lot depends on whether they come up with scripts to flesh out. But certainly, I’m up for it, if the script is there. It’s a fascinating thing to do two trilogies in a career.”

The Kevin he refers to is Kevin Williamson, who wrote the script for the first three films, as well as the fourth until Ehren Kruger was brought in to rework things. Possibly a cause for concern, but Williamson’s initial concepts will still be used, and since the Craven quote reveals that Scream 4 was constructed with a new trilogy in mind, it seems like it’s almost an inevitable certainty if the new movie’s box office goes well. With Scream 4‘s cast having enough XX chromosomes to complete a whole shelf full of adult film titles, I’d be pretty surprised if its ticket sales underwhelm.
