Will Ferrell swears to God, makes a movie

In a move that surprised no one, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell have re-teamed for another feature together. Adam McKay, who directed Step Brothers, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and last year’s The Other Guyswill now direct Swear to God with Will Ferrell in the starring role. Produced by Warner Bros. (in what I can only imagine to be an apparent attempt to substitute the lack of the Looney Tunes these days), the film’s concept is “a narcissistic hedge fund manager who thinks he has seen God.” Whether this concept will produce laughs or not is debatable, but there will no doubt be wigs and various disguises adorned by Ferrell in case it doesn’t.

While I can’t say that The Other Guys was a cinematic piece of comedic genius, there is no question in my mind as to Ferrell and McKay’s hypnotic influence on American audiences. It’s as if each of their films drops the audiences IQ before viewing (probably the hypnotism I mentioned earlier). Then it subjects them to the movie itself, which is funnier because, like a gallon of alcohol, everything is funnier when your pants are on your head, as most Will Ferrell comedies usually end.
