Wolverine director search cut down to eight prospects

We were devastated when Darren Aronofsky announced he wouldn’t be directing The Wolverine. Following his successful swan song with Black Swan, The Wolverine would have been a great and interesting direction for Aronofsky to take. However, he broke our hearts and left us speculating who would replace him.

According to Get the Big Picture, Fox has narrowed the search to eight potential directors. The directors range from the good to not so good to unknown. The directors are as follows:

Justin Lin (Fast Five), Jose Padilha (Elite Squad), Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs. Smith), Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), Gavin O’Connor (Pride and Glory), James Mangold (Walk the Line), Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo), and Gary Shore.

Just looking at the list and the directors’ credentials, I’d personally be more interested in James Mangold directing. If these are indeed the eight directors we’re left with, who would you guys put your faith behind?
