WWE superstar John Cena cast as Green Lantern in Justice League

John Cena, the 14-time WWE world champ, has just been cast as The Green Lantern in the Justice League movie. This news breaks today as Warner Bros replaced Zack Snyder on Justice League with George Miller and moved forward with major casting announcements for Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie.

Cena will likely play brash test pilot Hal Jordan, arguably the most well-known of the various Green Lanterns. Ryan Reynolds previously played Hal Jordan in the poorly received Green Lantern film from 2011.

Cena, who turns 39 years old later this month, is one of the most prominent figures in the WWE, and is one of the most well-known wrestlers in his generation. A recent injury has kept the star out of the ring, which means he will miss Wrestlemania in Dallas this weekend. There have been rumors of Cena moving away from in-ring work, focusing on acting or something less physically demanding. Cena’s most notable on-screen performance was in last year’s Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck.

How do you feel about Cena doing his Five Moves of Doom while wearing a Green Lantern Corps ring? Let us know in the comments.
