X-Men: Apocalypse and Wolverine 3 to conclude Brian Singer’s X-Men universe

Some unclear news coming from the old rumor mill. El Miyambe reports that once X-Men: Apocalypse and Wolverine 3 are done so is the Bryan Singer X-MEN universe that started back in 2000. You can read his full quote from Instagram below, but without further detail it’s a bit hard to know what this means.

It’s hard to believe that Fox is going to do a full reset on the franchise when they just brilliantly basically did that with X-Men: Days of Future Past. Basically destroying Last Stand was one of the greatest acts of kindness to film fandom ever. Still, Wolverine 3 is Hugh Jackman’s last turn as the character so maybe they’re looking to revamp it entirely. That’s the long shot, though. Most likely Singer will leave the franchise and we’ll get a slightly different take on it while still being based in the same universe. My guess is that the “connected story” begun in 2000 will be concluded in Wolverine 3 opening them up for a new story arch.

I think Singer is one of the reasons we have comic book movies at the level they are today, but I’m pretty sure the series can survive without him. To lessen the blow for anyone feeling truly betrayed below is our first look at Nightcrawler in the upcoming Apocalypse
