I don’t know what’s worse: Adam Levine’s piercing falsetto screeching indefinitely over footage of hip thirty-somethings reclaiming their lives, or CeeLo Green “free-styling” a godawful rap and then calling it “exceptionally good”. Luckily for you, both of these things occur in the The Weinstein Company’s new trailer for Begin Again!
In all honesty, I wasn’t impressed by the first trailer for Begin Again, and this second one makes this film look downright unbearable. Surprising, considering this is a John Carney film, the man who brought us the critically-acclaimed musical romance Once in 2006. But, who knows, maybe Levine’s shrieking belies the genius that is Begin Again. Maybe CeeLo’s inexplicable cameo will serve to strengthen the film’s poignant message. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.
Begin Again opens in limited release June 27th.
