Altered Carbon: Resleeved | Official Trailer | Netflix

With its second season having premiered at the tail-end of last month, the far-flung future of Altered Carbon is expanding yet more over at Netflix, this time under the guise of an animated feature film: Altered Carbon: Resleeved.

The trailer above features all sorts of street samurai and brutal yakuza slugging it out on the neon city streets of Latimer over a crucial witness, with former special operator and current gumshoe-for-hire Takeshi Kovacs becoming embroiled in the bloody squabble, as he seems wont to do.

Resleeved‘s CG-anime aesthetic isn’t… immediately easy on the eyes, despite all the sci-fi Japanese imagery and high-tech garnishes, but I’ll reserve my judgement and hold out a little faith. Touting “the creative mind behind Cowboy Bebop,” Dai Satô’s involvement with Resleeved should perhaps instill a little confidence. Satô wrote for several episodes of Bebop, as well as multiple Ghost in the Shell series and animations, among other things.

How Resleeved fares will have to be determined when it releases to Netflix, next week on March 19th.
