Writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour had a memorable debut with A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, a Jim Jarmusch-style Iranian vampire movie heavy with languid mood and style. (Not to be confused with a Jim Jarmusch vampire movie.) Her new film, The Bad Batch, sounded rather bonkers: a post-apocalyptic cannibal film with some heavy doses of social commentary. The film stars Suki Waterhouse and Jason Momoa, with supporting roles by Keanu Reeves, Jim Carrey, Diego Luna, and Giovanni Ribisi.
The Bad Batch premiered at The Venice Film Festival to pretty mixed reviews, but those eager to see more of Amirpour’s work will be able to catch it via Netflix, who secured SVOD rights to the film. The Bad Batch will play at The Toronto International Film Festival next, where it will likely pick up theatrical distribution with release date info to follow.

While Amirpour knows how to frame a shot and hold it, there’s something a little too static about both of these clips. Maybe they could have shared a more interesting and dramatic moment than what’s seen above. Also, gosh… Die Antwoord, huh? Then again, Jizzy Fizz, guys. Aquaman is drinking Jizzy Fizz.
