Billy Crystal’s US & THEM to feature Bette Midler

This is surely good news to Jews everywhere (cool it, brosef, I’m one of you!), Bette Midler and Bailee Madison (who just featured in Guillermo Del Toro’s Are You Afraid Of The Dark) are joining Billy Crystal in US & THEM, all caps required. This comes as quite a shock to me, since I thought Billy Crystal gave up acting for… reasons. Possibly something to do with his fading looks. The last thing I remember him in was Analyze That, the sequel to Analyze This. In any case, Crystal is back with his City Slickers writing duo, Lowell Gantz and Babaloo Mandel, which just made me orgasm all over myself, because the City Slickers movies are a treasure, no pun intended.

The story of Us & Them revolves around a Fresno AAA baseball broadcaster who is tasked with caring for his three grandchildren alongside his estranged wife, soon to be ex-wife. Apparently, the movie will be exploring the Grandparents vs. Parents parenting debacle that has everyone in Congress up in arms (not really). Midler will purportedly be playing Crystal’s estranged wife, while 11-year-old Madison will be one of the grandkids. Andy Fickman, who directed the “pretty good” You Again is directing, while 20th Century Fox and Walden Media are co-producing the film. Production starts later this month in Hotlanta, GA.
