Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze possibly reunite

Well, it looks like they’re at it again. Rumor has it that Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze are now headed around to independent financiers with a pitch for a brand new movie. Kaufman and Jonze as a writer/director duo produced material like the awesomely strange Being John Malkovich, as well as the hyper self-awareAdaptation. And, although they’ve teamed up in different ways since then, the guys have not had their writer and director respective roles since 2002.

Little is known about the pitch as of now — but, let’s be honest, it has to be strange.  Each of the two have built entire careers out of skirting the edges of the Hollywood status quo.  This, combined with the fact that the two are master craftsmen of the bizarre, means that we may be looking forward to quite the cinematic oddity in the near future.

What kind of a project do you think Kaufman and Jonze could be pitching? Will it be ironic? Post-ironic? Meta-post-apocalyptic?
