Daisy Ridley eyed for Tomb Raider reboot

They’re rebooting Tomb Raider, in case you didn’t know. They’ve even got a director and everything so it’s actually happening. Now it seems that Daisy Ridley is one of the choices to make it happen as Lara Croft.

If you’re last memory of Lara Croft involved massive triangular breasts, short shorts and a weird shirt that never stayed fully tucked in then you may be scratching your head at this casting, but it makes perfect sense if you’ve played the most recent games, which involve a much younger and far more realistically proportioned Lara. It’s pretty solid casting in that case as the character has plenty in common with Ridley’s Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She’s a bad ass, she’s just coming into herself, her parents are dead/missing and she likes to fly off to locations that no one else is at except weird guys in robes. In fact the rebooted games gave the long-in-the-works rebooted movie the creative direction it actually needed.

Ridley is not, of course, the only actress being considered nor does Deadline know if she’s even interested. It would be quite a hefty work schedule to headline two major franchises at the same time.
